Settling In & Establishing Routines- Start the school year with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

The first weeks of school set the tone for the entire year, making a strong start essential for successful early literacy learning. This webinar supports Infant to 1st Class teachers in helping children transition smoothly into school life through the establishment of calm, predictable routines and a secure, language-rich classroom environment.

In this session, Dr Clara Maria Fiorentini will explore practical, developmentally appropriate strategies for supporting children emotionally, building independence, and creating daily structures that foster learning, wellbeing, and positive behaviour from the very beginning of the school year. Grounded in the principles of the Primary Curriculum Framework and the Primary Language Curriculum, the webinar will highlight how purposeful interactions, predictable structures, and intentional use of language support children’s engagement, communication, and confidence as they settle in or return to school.

Teachers will leave with practical ideas to help children settle positively and to establish strong foundations for meaningful learning and early literacy development.

This webinar forms part one of a four-part Back to School webinar series delivered by Dr Clara Maria Fiorentini for Sligo Education Centre.

The series is designed to support Infant to 1st Class teachers as they plan for a strong start to the school year, with a particular focus on early literacy learning aligned with the Primary Language Curriculum and the Primary Curriculum Framework.

Each webinar builds on the last, offering practical, developmentally appropriate guidance to support confident teaching, purposeful planning, and engaging classroom practice from August through September.
