Teachers play a vital role in the promotion of wellbeing through a range of activities and approaches to support the development of all children and young people. Yoga is an innovative approach to wellbeing promotion and can equip children with the knowledge and skills to enhance their self-care and contribute to improved wellbeing.
This practical Summer course will equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to practise yoga in their own lives in order to deliver objective based mindfulness practices to the children in their classes as part of SPHE and the PE curriculum.
The course will offer practical ideas, activities and resources (including both yoga and mindfulness skills and principles) to nurture teacher and child wellbeing within the school setting.
The participants will explore yoga and the Enneagram, which is a transformative tool. While many assessments help people understand their strengths, the Enneagram takes it a step further. It's a map of the human psyche, providing a deep understanding of human behaviour. Participants will be able to use this to better understand the different needs in their classrooms.
Participants are required to bring their own yoga mats.
