Using Decodable Readers in the Classroom

Using Decodable Readers in the Classroom

“It’s in the application that the learning sticks.” - Wiley Blevins
Phonics instruction can fail if there is not enough application to reading and writing. It is important that children are given enough opportunities to practise decoding and read connected text on a daily basis. This webinar will examine the place of decodable readers in the junior classes, and demonstrate activities that allow for the purposeful application of skills and the development of accuracy and automaticity in reading. Methods of assessment and progress monitoring will also be explored.
Suitable for Junior Infants to 2nd Class and Special Education Teachers
