This practical webinar is designed to introduce teachers to the basics of Microsoft OneNote with a clear focus on how it can be used to support students with additional educational needs (AEN), particularly those who have been granted a digital device to help remove barriers to learning.
As more students arrive in classrooms with digital devices recommended to support their individual needs, it is essential that teachers understand how to help them build digital skills and use these tools effectively. OneNote provides an accessible, intuitive, and highly flexible platform that can significantly enhance how students organise their work, access learning, and participate fully in classroom activities. It also offers opportunities for students to move seamlessly from traditional hard-copy notebooks to digital copybooks that support independence, confidence, and ownership of their learning.
This session will also highlight practical accessibility features and built-in supports that make a real difference for students, including dictation tools and learning accelerators now available in Microsoft OneNote and Microsoft Teams. Participants will see how these tools can help differentiate tasks and assignments in a structured, accessible, and subtle way — enabling teachers to support a wide range of learning needs without drawing unnecessary attention to individual differences.
Drawing on classroom experience, this webinar will share effective approaches for embedding OneNote and Microsoft 365 tools into everyday teaching to support inclusion and remove barriers to learning.
This session is most suited to upper primary and post-primary teachers, including SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), learning support teachers, and any classroom teacher working directly with students who use digital devices as part of their support plan.
